I love that there are more and more companies that provide ready to go crafts that are all inclusive. One company that has been around for a while is Kiss Naturals, created in Canada. Kiss Naturals provides everything you need to make a DIY craft made with all natural ingredients. They provide kits for both adults and children including soap, lip balm, bath fizzies, solid perfume, lip gloss, and even a dog paw moisturizing kit! These kits come with everything you need to make these all natural personal care products. You will never find any fillers, additives, dyes or synthetics in their kits. You can buy just one kit, or get combo kits, and just recently party kits were added so that you can bring this DIY craft to your next gathering or give your kids something to do with their friends over the summer! I was sent the Natural DIY Lip Balm Making Kit for my kids!  This kit came with 2 bottles of pure essential oils {grapefruit and orange}, Shea butter, Safflower oil, and Beeswax, all in pre-measured bottles. The kit made 10 jars of lip balm. This was so much fun to do together.

As you can see, there are 10 empty tubs, a bottle of Safflower oil, Shea Buter and Beeswax, as well as the two essential oils, a small (green) spoon and a dropper.

Here are my two helpers being silly before we start! Yes…they are holding up the lids and containers to their heads :)

I gave them both an ingredient to add to the saucepan. We needed to melt the oil, butter, and wax together.

I had Benjamin add the Beeswax.

I had Chloe add the oil.

I added the butter with the spoon, it was a little tough and I didn’t want the kids getting it everywhere.

The mixture melted on the stove quickly and I divided it up into two bowls and added the essential oils. At this point I let the kids add some of the mixture to the bottles with the dropper. That worked for a while, then the mixture started to harden. I put the bowls in the microwave to melt it again and poured the mixture in the bottles myself.

This is the finished product. The two on the right are straight orange and grapefruit and the rest are all varying mixtures of the two. (I scraped the hardened part out of the bowls and added them to the two jars that don’t appear to be smooth).

Overall, the kids and I had a great time doing this together. They were so proud that they had made their own lip balm and were even more excited when daddy got home so they could share it with him. The kit is meant for kids over the age of 5, but my kids had a good time doing it, it just involved more parent involvement. If you have older kids, they will have a blast doing this all by themselves (with you peering over their shoulder)! I look forward to trying out more of their kits in the future!
